The History of RITA Africa

The Inspiring History of RITA Africa: Revolutionizing Technology in Africa

The story of RITA Africa is one of vision, passion, and an unrelenting commitment to empowering Africa's brightest minds through technology. It began in July 2015, in Accra, Ghana, where a 30-day intensive bootcamp, titled the 30-Day Intensive Website Designing Seminar, laid the foundation for what would become a technological revolution on the continent. With 100 students enrolled in the very first bootcamp, the overwhelming success of the program proved that there was a hunger for quality tech education in Ghana.

Years, 30-Day Intensive Web Design Bootcamp

This initial success sparked a broader initiative, and the bootcamp evolved. Soon, it expanded into multiple cities, including Kumasi, allowing more young talents to gain vital skills in website design and microcomputing. By 2016, the program had grown so large that it was formally incorporated as Agape Harvest Institute (AHI), a recognized institution under the Ghana Education Service (GES). AHI quickly became accredited by the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) and included in the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) program. This status enabled it to deliver top-notch training in areas such as software development, data analytics, and other critical tech disciplines across branches in Accra, Kumasi, and eventually, Ho in the Volta Region of Ghana.

Driving Solutions for Africa’s Needs

The vision did not stop there. By 2021, AHI had evolved once more, rebranding itself as InfoSorse Technology Institute (ITI), adapting to the rapidly changing technology landscape while maintaining its focus on providing high-quality tech training.

The defining moment came in December 2023, when ITI split into two distinct arms, each with a unique mission. One arm retained the ITI brand, offering paid tech training to global audiences. The second arm, however, was born out of a deeper vision — to transform technology in Africa. This second arm was aptly named Rise In Tech Africa, or RITA Africa. The mission was clear: to empower Africa’s burgeoning tech talent by providing sponsored, world-class training programs and certifications tailored to the specific needs of the tech industry and to provide direct assistance to job opportunities globally upon completion.

Graduation & Award Ceremony

RITA Africa officially launched its operations in March 2024 and was incorporated in Accra, Ghana in May 2024. Operating as a fully remote institution, it quickly grew into a pan-African organization with students and team members from various countries across Africa. The demand for the program was immense, with over 2,000 applicants from over 35 countries in Africa vying for a place in RITA Africa’s inaugural cohort. 500 candidates were selected for a rigorous one-month assessment bootcamp, and from there, 50 exceptional students emerged, selected as the first cohort. These students embarked on a transformative journey through RITA Africa’s 9-12 month training and certification program, gaining skills in fields such as Data Analytics, Data Science and Machine Learning, Cloud Computing and DevOps, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, and Fullstack Web Development. The program not only offered industry certifications but also opened pathways to global job placements upon completion.
